Özet (EN)

The Ramsar Agreement, to which our country is a party for 14 wetlands, is the most important management and protection tool of wetlands. Evaluating the management effectiveness of these areas helps measure the success of current efforts, determine what impact past interventions have had on the ecological structure of the area, and determine future management strategies. The aim of this study is to apply R-METT, which is the adapted version of the Protected Area Management Effectiveness Monitoring Tool (METT) for Ramsar Sites, specifically for Burdur Lake. First of all, the common and deficiencies of METT-4, the latest version of the Management Effectiveness Monitoring Tool, and R-METT, accepted by Ramsar, were determined, and the form was developed by taking into account today's conditions and the problems of our country's wetlands. With this study, R-METT analysis was applied to a Ramsar site for the first time in our country. According to the evaluations made; The general management effectiveness success level of Burdur Lake Wetland was found to be at the "medium" level with 50%. In the subcategories, the success levels are good with 75% in terms of "Environment" and 62% in terms of "planning"; It was determined that it was at the "medium" level with 52% in terms of "inputs", 44% in terms of "processes", 54% in terms of "results" and 44% in terms of "outputs". In addition, it has been observed that the most important "pressure and threat" elements for this lake in the current situation and in the future are "Hydrological change" and "Climate change". In wetlands where the Management Effectiveness Monitoring Tool is applied; It enables the transformation of legal, administrative, human and natural effects and ecosystem services into quantitative data. Monitoring management effectiveness; It makes significant contributions to increasing the management success of the area by making it easier to achieve goals, solve problems or detect possible future threats. As a result, the application of the Management Effectiveness Monitoring Tool (R-METT) in other registered wetlands in our country, especially in Ramsar Sites, is seen as an application that will increase management effectiveness.
