Abstract (EN)
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious clinical problem due to its high morbidity and mortality. The search for alternative markers for early diagnosis of AKI has been increasing due to the lack of early diagnostic of AKI. Myo-inositol oxygenase (MIOX) is the first rate-limiting enzyme of myo-inositol catabolism and is mostly observed in the kidney. In this study, the role of MIOX enzyme in the diagnosis of AKI induced by experimental ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats was investigated. In total 40 rats were divided into 5 groups of 8 with simple randomization and left kidney ischemia reperfusion was applied to the experimental groups except the control group. Group I was evaluated as undamaged control group. Group II was exposed to 60 min ischemia and 2 hr reperfusion. Group III was exposed to 60 min ischemia and 4 hr reperfusion. Group IV was exposed to ischemia for 2 hours and reperfusion for 2 hours. Group V was exposed to ischemia for 2 hours and reperfusion for 4 hours. Serum BUN and creatinine levels were higher in the experimental groups compared to the control group (p <0.001). Serum MIOX levels were higher in groups II, III and IV than in the control group, but similar to the control group in group V (p = 0.002). Tissue MIOX levels were lower in groups II, IV and V than the control group (p = 0.039). Serum and tissue neutrophil gelatinase-related lipocalin (NGAL) levels were not significantly different when compared between the groups (p = 0.093, p = 0.161, respectively). Damage level in histopathologic examination; group I Keyword: Akut böbrek hasarı = Acute kidney injury ; Biyobelirteçler = Biomarkers ; KIM-1 = KIM-1 ; NGAL = NGAL ; Oksijenazlar = Oxygenases ; Reperfüzyon = Reperfusion ; Reperfüzyon lezyonu = Reperfusion injury ; Sıçanlar = Rats ; İnositol = Inositol ; İskemi = Ischemia
