Özet (EN)

In this study, we aimed to examine the histological and histometrical changes in the testes of rats produced by orally administration of daidzein for 20 days. A total of 30 male Sprague-Dawley rats in 90 days of age were used. Rats were randomly divided in three groups of 10. One group was administered with 20 mg/kg and the other group was administered with 100 mg/kg daidzein daily with gavage. Other 10 rats were used as control group. In this study, we observed that, the testes of the daidzein administered rats represented seminiferous tubules contraction, enlargement of tubular lumens, diffuse vacuolization in sections of seminiferous tubules, cell loss occurred and the reduction of the germ cells frequency in the seminiferous tubules compared with the control rats. Also, tubular diameter and the epithelial height decreased in daidzein administered rats? compared with the controls. Immunuhistochemical analyzes revealed that, the spermatogonial stem cells were found to more intense in daidzein administered rats when compared to control. These results suggested that, dietary phytoestrogens may negatif affect on male fertility. Keywords: Daidzein, Spermatogonial stem cell, Testes, Rat
