Özet (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of rose hydrocele on corneal healing in the post-infection period in an experimental bacterial keratitis model in rats by clinical and microbiologic methods. The animal material of the study consisted of 28 female, healthy, white Spraque Dawley rats. The rats were divided into 4 groups as Rosa damascena drops (RDD) application group (7), RD gel (RDJ) application group (7), positive control (PC) group (7) and negative control (NC) group (7) after bacterial keratitis. In the evaluation of the post-infection corneal healing process in terms of clinical examination; there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of corneal opacity and corneal edema before treatment, on days 3 and 5, but on day 7, there was a statistically significant difference in corneal opacity and corneal edema in the RDD, RDJ and PK groups compared to the NK group. In terms of conjunctival hyperemia, there was no statistically significant difference before treatment, whereas there was a statistically significant difference on the 3rd, 5th and 7th days of treatment. In terms of conjunctival discharge; while there was no statistical difference before treatment, on the 3rd and 7th days of treatment, there was a statistical difference on the 5th day of treatment. In terms of conjunctival edema; there was no statistical difference between the treatment groups before, on the 3rd, 5th and 7th days of treatment. In terms of epithelial erosion; there was no statistical difference between the treatment groups before treatment, on the 3rd and 7th days of treatment. On day 5, there was a statistical difference between all treatment groups in terms of epithelial erosion. When evaluated microbiologically; there was a statistically significant difference in the standard bacterial counts of RDD, RDJ and PK groups compared to NK group on the 3rd and 7th day in all treatment groups. As a result, it was concluded that RDD and RDJ had positive effects on corneal healing in terms of clinical examination and on standard bacterial counts in terms of microbiologic analysis.
