Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the transfusion indications and complications of blood products at RTEU Medical Faculty Education and Research Hospital. The study included 519 patients in different wards who underwent blood transfusion. Complications such as fever and allergic reactions from the transfused products, symptoms before transfusion and acute transfusion reactions after transfusion were evaluated with the help of a 16-parameter form. In the study, 411 patients underwent ES, 38 patients underwent HPLT and 70 patients underwent TDP transfusion. 356 patients underwent transfusion for anemia, 128 patients for bleeding and 35 patients for trauma. In general, very low rates of petechiae or ecchymosis were found. Before ES transfusion, the patients were questioned such as dyspnea, chest pain, weakness and palpitation. At least one of these symptoms was observed in %75.6 of the total transfused patients. Acute reaction after transfusion was found in only 1.7% of 519 patients The mean HGB values in patients undergoing ES transfusion were 7.88 ± 1.00 g / dl. The mean PLT measured in 38 patients who underwent HPLT transfusion was 25.10 ± 18.48 x 103 / uL. The mean INR in patients undergoing TDP transfusion was 2.74 ± 2.79. Evaluation of symptoms in patients before blood and blood product transfusion is an important factor in determining the blood transfusion product to be applied.
