Structure and theme in Refik Erdun's plays

The study titled "Structure and Theme in Refik Erduran's Plays" aims to examine the life, literary personality and plays of the artist. In the "Introduction" part, a short history of theater until Erduran and a panorama of Turkish theater are drawn, and established a bond between the period and the artist's plays. In the second part, Erduran's life and his literary personality are described. Erduran, who worked at most of the narrative genres, got famous in the theater with the plays he wrote and the associations he took part in and served as a president. Pioneering many activities for the nationalization and indigenization of Turkish theater, he manages to be Pioneer among his counterparts. In the third part of the study, 43 of Erduran's 60 plays were reached and his plays were explained in terms of structure and theme. Drawing his closed fiction technique towards Brecht's open-form technique, the artist wrote his works according to the social and political background of the period and presented the failings of the individual and society to the readers in comedy form. Erduran, who also worked as a journalist, could not insensitive to the current issues of the time and the events engraved in Turkey's memory while choosing the theme of his plays, and he mostly dealt with the inconsistency of intellectuals, inequality between men and women and people alienated from society. In his plays, Erduran does not go through conclusions, but he makes us think, entertains us at the same time and leaves the solution to the reader.
