Abstract (EN)

The concept of mise en scene has been used since the development of cinema, which is a visual art. The effect of the fiction of the film and the characters in the narrative is reinforced with the elements of the mise en scene. With the space, decor and lighting used in connection with the plot, concepts such as the psychological states of the characters and their socioeconomic characteristics can be specified. The accessories, which are part of the mise en scene, may vary according to the narrative of the film through the plot and the characters. The use of any accessory in accordance with the genre and subject of the film can change the importance of the subject, character or mise en scene in the plot by giving the accessory a meaning other than its own meaning. Reha Erdem, who made an important contribution to Turkish cinema, gave importance to the setting of mise en scene in his films. He associated the film narrative, the structural features of the characters and the emotion in the scene with the elements of the mise en scene. He also associated the subject he dealt with in his films with the plot by using a single accessory. The purpose of this study is to examine how mise en scene and accessories are used in Reha Erdem's films. In the study, the elements of the mise en scene and the functions of the accessory were examined and their importance in the films was discussed. Then, how the mise en scene elements and accessories that are a part of it are used in Reha Erdem's films are discussed.
