Abstract (EN)

Nutrition significantly influences sports performance, and recent studies have demonstrated the beneficial impact of nutritional supplements on athletes. Beetroot juice is a dietary supplement recognized for its endurance and performance-enhancing properties attributed to its nitrate content. This study seeks to investigate the impact of beetroot juice on swimmers and its correlation with the athletes' nutritional knowledge levels. The research involved 79 volunteer swimmers aged 18 to 30 at a private health clinic. The study revealed that swimmers who ingested beetroot juice had higher levels of nutrition awareness compared to those who did not. Analysis of the correlation between beetroot juice drinking for ergogenic purposes and the NSKQ score revealed significant enhancements in nutrition knowledge among beetroot juice consumers (p<0.001). Furthermore, it has been determined that athletes' nutritional knowledge and awareness can directly influence their performance, necessitating a deliberate enhancement of athlete nutrition. These findings underscore the significance of educational initiatives and awareness campaigns for athletes.
