Abstract (EN)
Chronic urticaria is an inflammatory skin disease that affects 1-5% of the population and lasts longer than 6 weeks, characterized by attacks. In our study, 25(OH) vitamin D values and anxiety and depression scores of patients with stable progress under treatment and patients with active disease symptoms were evaluated. The UAS7 scoring of 70 chronic urticaria patients who were admitted to Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Hospital Dermatology and Veneral Diseases outpatient clinic between April 1 and October 31, 2020 and met inclusion and exclusion criteria were evaluated, and serum 25(OH) vitamin D levels of all patients and Beck Depression Scale and Beck Anxiety Scale scores were compared. In all, 49 women (70%), 21 men (30%) and total of 70 patients were included in this study. Patients were between 18 and 64 years old (mean 38,47±11,57 years). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between vitamin D level and urticaria activity score (r=-0,415; p=0,000). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between anxiety score and urticaria activity score (r=0,417; p=0,000). A statistically significant positive correlation found between depression score and urticaria activity score (r=0,270; p=0,024). 51 No significant relationship was found between depression and anxiety score and 25(OH) vitamin D levels. Evidence of the role of vitamin D deficiency in affecting the etiology of chronic urticaria and the response to urticaria treatment with large-scale studies will provide convenience to clinicians in treatment of the disease. Similarly, a holistic approach to the treatment of urticaria patients with psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression is important in order to turn to patient-based treatment rather than standard treatment algorithm.
