Abstract (EN)

In this study, whether, via distance learning, teaching music through colours is applicable for students studying at a middle school for the hearing-impaired by using melodica is investigated. This study employs the action research design which is one of the qualitative research methods. The population of the study at hand is students of Ankara Yılmaz Balaban Middle School for the Hearing-Impaired and the sample group of the research is four students who have the necessary equipment for distance learning. Data have been gathered through two techniques: a) observation reports of applications which were carried out in accordance with previously prepared 8-week lesson plans, and b) post-interviews which were conducted to obtain students' comments. Subsequently, data were described and interpreted. In the current research, what is found out after this 8-week programme is that by making use of teaching music through colours, melodica instruction is convenient to be taught in distance learning at the single right-hand position and using graphical note writing to the students studying at Middle School for the Hearing-Impaired.
