Abstract (EN)

This research, entitled ?The Assessment of Art Education Student?s Work in Accordance with Discipline-Based Art Education Management in Art Criticism? has been chosen with my esteemed teacher Prof. Dr. Zahide İmer. This essay aims at a quantitative analysis between students? works in the faculty of art education in the sphere of art criticism. The research has been divided into 5 different sections. The first section of the research contains its target, importance, other targets, the discussion of assumptions and the limits. The second section, under the title of ?The Conceptual Framework?, briefly treats a number of themes under the sub-titles such as: art - art education, the importance and the necessity of art education, assessment and evaluation in art education, discipline-based art education, sub-discipline practices and the history of art. And two other sub-discipline titles, esthetic and art criticism have a rather extensive coverage as they are the main subject of the research. In the third section, under the main title of ?Method?, the research model, the research?s universe and the sample, the compilation of the research data and the data analysis processes, validity and reliability have been clarified. The forth section contains the results and their commentary. The fifth section contains the conclusion and the resultant proposals. For this research, 20 random art students works were choosen from art education workshops to evaluate. 5 point likert scale and 12 charts have been used on the work assessments. The 5 point likert scale consists of 32 material and 5 sections; titled as art principle and the component practices in the works, its phraseology, the reflection of interpretive statements, their color-line-texture-lighting-shadow features and their theoretical statements and the importance of these in the work as a whole. There are 12 charts to ascertain the distribution of art principle components in student works. These charts comprise color, line, contrast, proportion, balance, rhythm-movement, sovereignty, emphasis, harmony and unity, change and repetition categories. The target and the sub-target-oriented answers are sought within these charts and scale.5 point likert scale data analysis, including 32 materials, is supported by the SPSS (Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences) program, and the results of this digital data are interpreted in this research. The inputs having from art principles and the component charts are transformed into graphic diagrams by the Excel program and all the outputs are precisely interpreted. To conclude, in line with the research scale, some deficiency on art principle and the component practices has been detected in the works. Most of the works hardly say anything to today?s people. In addition to this, most of them have been detected as indefinite in theoretical statements and the importance section. Generally, all the works? compositions are based on one real particular subject; however the expression of the subjects within the works have been ascertained as ineffective.
