Students? ideas about effects of basic art workshop in graphic design lessons of the higher classes in art teaching programme

Art teaching has still had a place in every period of history of civilization in various approaches and stages in the process of education as it was before. Today changing process is felt in every area; Art teaching is bringing efforts of innovation together. It has seen that results being closely followed by Art teacher of development and alternation all over the world. To become true it sticks important mission over higher education institution which educates art teacher. In the field of business, students who graduated from these institutions get access to teaching in their branches. Furthermore, students in except for getting a degree in the field of discipline of art profession of teaching; in the second grade and from third term till graduation according to major art lessons by specializing they are able to get a job in various sectors. One of these areas of specializations is also constituted by major art ATL. There is a significant concern with basic lessons of the first grade which attributes to Basic Design. Goal of this research is to determine effects of the Basic Design lesson which takes place in the program of Art teaching in the higher grades. Samples of the thesis were chosen from the Art teaching program of Pedagogical faculty at three different universities in Turkey. Research was conducted from the students who study in Graphic Design Major Art department including Dokuz Eylül vii University in zmir, Anadolu University in Eskisehir, Marmara University in stanbul. It was estimated sixty students, in total, who participated in the research, twenty students in each university. Estimated Data on this research in the screening procedure was gathered in a survey which was formed in three different parts. The survey is totally made of thirty elements and is about place of the students of Graphic Design Major Art in the Basic Design and their concern with Graphic Design and teaching process and teaching staff. To solve searching data, the computer of SPSS (Statistical Package Social Sciences) was used and techniques of statistics were presented as numeric and percentage tables. At the end of the research with respect to the results the effects of studying and performance of the students in the Basic Design lessons at teaching Graphic Design Major Art were determined. In the field of Graphic Design to be successful in competency in the early beginning; enough attention should be paid to teaching Basic Design and this lesson is required to be well processed. Also, It was also established that Both teaching staff and students in the Basic Design lessons encountered set of obstacles in theoretical and practical aspects and these were needed to be analyzed to over come obstacles.
