Abstract (EN)
Play, as a creative activity, improves mental and physical functions in the evolution process. Painting, as a form of play with pattern, also helps humans to develop their cognitive skills to survive. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the importance of the play of painting on cognitive skills and creativity. In order to accomplish this aim, the relationship between play and art is explained. Furthermore, the play of painting which includes surface games such as drawing, scribbling and repetitive dots making, are examined through the artworks of the modern artists who inspired the study. Within this context, surface games of the researcher are explained as a result of the former parts. Through this analysis, it is experienced that the surface games have positive effects on both creative process, and mental and physical abilities.
