The effect of management styles of public and private preschool education directors on teachers

Abstract (EN)

School directors and management styles have a great effect on the quality of education given. The management style which is adopted and applied by the director directly affects the staff and the organizational climate. Through the process of management, the director should know the management styles well and internalize them. They should apply these management styles appropriately considering the goals of the organization. The aim of this research is to define the effect of management styles of public and private preschool education directors from İstanbul, Küçükçekmece on teachers. In this research, priority has been given to the data on the management, types of managerial behavior and management processes. Afterwards preschool education management has been handled and the must-be qualities and responsibilities of the preschool directors and teachers have been discussed. The research is planned as quantitatively, and the study has been held by relational screening model method. The sampling of this research consists of 338 preschool teachers who work in 30 different private and public preschool institutions in Küçükçekmece, İstanbul in the 2012-2013 Academic year. When gaining the data, firstly, domestic and foreign publications are browsed literally and the outline of the questionnaire is prepared. Secondly, after taking the authorities views on the subject ?The questionnaire on The Effect of Management Styles of Public and Private Preschool Education Directors on Teachers? is applied on the participants. Finally, the results have been transferred on the internet. The statistical analysis of the data taken from the developed questionnaire has been studied through SPSS Windows 15 predictive analytics software. The scales of the arithmetic means and standard deviations of sub-factors have been shown to identify the effect of management styles of public and private preschool education directors from Istanbul, Küçükçekmece on teachers. It is checked whether the results which are gained by using the scales differ due to the variables of the teachers? ? who joined this research- gender, age, marital status, occupational seniority (employment period), employment period with the current manager, type of school, educational status, the attendance to in-service training according to their branches. At the result of these difference tests, among the subgroups which belong to some demographic variables, statistically significant difference (p<.05) is determined where as in some of them no difference has been determined.
