The encountered problems in restoration applications: Izmir sample

Restoration, could be mentioned briefly as ; conservation of historical-cultural values of buildings and hand down the next generations. As a first step for conservation, required to be determination, registration and Project design of historical buildings. But basically, completioning properly of application phase provides conservation. Restoration of historical buildings is a work which requires the process. Within the process both Project design and application phase, either technical aspects or social aspects encountering many problems. The restoration process must be determined correctly for conservation of building without increase to consisted distortion. In this study, at first; term of conservation, legal framework of conservation and term of refunctioning defined; and restoration process is explained as ordered in restoration phases and techniques. In next phase; historical building models which are refunctioned; and encountered problems are identified. Finally proposed solutions for the problems which are identified.
