Evaluation of Hulâsatu?s-Sarf written by Retyos Kirkoryan regarding Arabic grammer teaching methods

Özet (EN)

In the introduction chapter of this research, brief knowledge about morphology studies during the Ottoman Empire was given. The problem and the aim of our study, its importance, limitations, hypothesis, and definitions were explained. In the limitations chapter, in order to compare the Arabic teaching methods of Hulâsatu's?sarf with modern techniques, knowledge about the grammer books ?Arabic Conjugations and Morphology Knowledge? (M. Sadi Çöğenli), ?Arabic Grammer? (Mehmet Maksutoğlu), ?Arabic Grammer? (Hüseyin Günday and Şener Şahin), and ?Introduction to Arabic Grammer ? 1 Morphology? (Erkan Avşar), which were selected among current Arabic morphology books, were mentioned. In the methods section, informations about the model of this research, the universe and the sample, the techniques of data collection, and the data analysis were presented. In the discussion chapter, in order to help the reader for making a reliable comparison, a full text transcription of the Hulâsatu's?sarf was given and a general information about the written work and its author Retyos Kirkoryan was mentioned. In the next step, the topics, the techniques of teaching, and the methods of the Hulâsatu's-sarf were evaluated. In the second part, a constructive analysis of the morphology principles of the Arabic grammer which were mentioned in the Hulâsatu's?sarf was made with the above mentioned 4 morphology books, and the results of this analysis were presented under 34 headings. Lastly, the conclusion and the suggestions of this study were presented by making a general criticism of this book about teaching Arabic grammer.
