Abstract (EN)

As Michael Porter stated, in a global competetive environment, companies have to try hard to move further. They develop various techniques and methods and they make investments in order to raise their globally-competitiveness in the world market. The most important of these investments might be technological ones. However, while making these high-cost investments, companies have to make the most effective use of their assets and their investment sources. One of these technological investments is radio-frequency identification (RFID). Although it has just recently started to become popular, it is indeed a very old technology. Despite the fact that this technology is well-known and there are a lot of fairs held on it in the business world, not many researches have been done about it in the academic world. For that reason, it needs to be studied academically. This study examines the data collected by searching the literature on RFID technology, theoretical explanations, examples, industry-specific studies and potential changes in the work process by implementing this technology. In the implementation, a retail business using the RFID technology has been studied, the data have been collected by making interviews. And as a result of the data collected, various findings have been reached and finally in the light of these findings, some conclusions and suggesstions have been drawn.
