Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationships between rhinosinusitis (RS) and various odontogenic/non-odontogenic parameters by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Among the patients who underwent CBCT scan for any reason, the patients with two or more symptoms (facial pain/pressure, reduction or loss of smell), one of which should be either nasal congestion or nasal discharge and pathological CBCT changes was defined as RS. Relationships between odontogenic/non-odontogenic parameters and RS/clinical symptoms were analyzed by chi-square test. The effect of radiological parameters on these variables was evaluated with binary logistic regression analysis. IBM SPSS 25.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) statistical program was used for statistical analysis (p<0.05). A total of 378 patients (mean age 38.03±16.09), 211 (55.8%) female and 167 (44.2%) male, were included in this study. 98 (25.9%) patients were defined as RS. Septum deviation, concha bullosa, periapical lesion and oroantral relationship/fistula were determined as predisposing factors for RS and various clinical symptoms. Septum deviation; for nasal congestion and reduction /loss of smell, concha bullosa; nasal congestion and facial pain/pressure sensation, periapical lesions, nasal congestion and facial pain/pressure sensation; and the presence of oroantral relationship/fistula; for nasal congestion, runny nose, facial pain/pressure sensation and reduction/loss of smell were determined as predisposing factors. Physicians should evaluate the clinical symptoms of the patients in detail and be careful about the parameters that may be associated with RS during the radiological evaluation.
