Özet (EN)
Hearing Screening Results of High Risk Newborns with evoked otoacoustic emissions test (TEOAE), Automated Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (A-ABR) and Diagnostic ABR.Besides speech and language development, having normal hearing during the early infancy is crucial for social, emotional and mental development of the children. In our study, we presented the results of hearing screening which we made with evoked otoacoustic emissions test (TEOAE) , auditory brainstem responses (ABR), (automated and diagnostic) in infants who have the risk factors for hearing loss.940 newborns, were screened in our audiology unit within newborn hearing screening program between (January) 2009 and (March) 2010. We selected 207 of these newborns, who carried risk factors of hearing loss. According to the protocol of newborn hearing screening program, in this study we evaluated evoked otoacoustic emissions test (TEOAE),automated auditory brainstem responses (ABR) and diagnostic ABR on these 207 infants. Of these 207, patients that selected had high risk for hearing loss according to criteria of Joint Comittee on Infant Hearing (JCIH)-2007.These newborns (207) has been screened with otoacoustic emissions test (TEOAE) and automated auditory brainstem responses (ABR) in first step. diagnostic ABR was performed in the second step. According to the results of primary screening; 39 infants failed in both of the tests. As a result of otoacoustic emissions test (TEOAE),automated auditory brainstem responses (ABR) and diagnostic ABR tests that was conducted to these 39 infants; we detected 16 infants had hearing loss (%7.73) and 23 newborns have normal hearing. Hearing aids were given to these patients that were identified with hearing loss.High risks for hearing loss must be known well for universal newborn hearing screening program and rehabilitation of infants that have hearing loss.In the light of this study, more accurete records should be kept for newborn hearing screenings, and the healtcare staff must work in close cooperation in the departments of ear nose and throat clinic, audiology unıt and neonatal intensive care clinic. Keywords: Newborn hearing screening, Otoacoustic emission , Automated auditory brainstem response. Diagnostic ABR.
