Roger Garaudy's philosophy of religion

In this study, Roger Garaudy's conception of philosophy of religion is examined. The thesis consists of an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. The introduction includes Garaudy's life, works, academic studies about him, his thought, criticisms of his work, and his criticisms of the Islamic world discussing his biography, I deal with the subject in connection with his thought. In this chapter, I also discuss the methods in writing this thesis. In the first chapter, I examine some concepts that are important to Garaudy, especially Marxism, socialism, capitalism and the dialogue of civilizations, In the second part, I investigate Garaudy's philosophy of religion, which is the main theme of our study, and his thoughts in this context, especially on religion, philosophy, God and similar phenomena. In the third chapter, I examine Garaudy's approach to Islam, Judaism, Christianity and other religions along with his definition of religion. In the conclusion part, I conclude that the thinker, who is accepted as a witness of the last century, a litigator and a Muslim philosopher, is not sufficiently known by the academic circles in Turkey. There are a few graduate level studies on his work in our country, but an intellectual like Garaudy deserves more attention. This is why, I conducted this study.
