ABSTRACT Agora is generally known as a market place among the people, but the first meaning of the agora is the gathering place. In the early period, any area could be called an agora, for example, when the gates of a state were gathered in front of the gate or in front of a ship, it was an agora. Over time, the word agora began to carry the meaning of the place of architectural elements such as bouleterion, odeon, theater, altar, etc. where buildings were built from abstract to concrete. The most beautiful agora that can be observed in the Archaic period; The Agora of Athens has been followed by cities like Olynthos and Kassope. When we look at Anatolia, however, most of the agora that was dated to the Archaic and Classical period was not excavated. According to the surveys and excavations, agoras dating to the Archaic and Classical periods were found in certain cities in Ionia, Caria, Psidia, Mysia, Lykia and Troas regions. Archaic period agora are generally scattered, irregular, unplanned, but sellers are thought to sell in wooden stands, etc. In the classical period, it is more regular and its material is changed regionally, but it is surrounded by stone or marble structures; altar, theater, odeon, bouleterionu, shops with agora were seen.
