The mediating role of conflict resolution responses in dyadic relationships in the relationship between romantic relationship satisfaction and irrational relationship beliefs

In this study, the mediating role of conflict resolution responses in dyadic relationships in the relationship between romantic relationship satisfaction and irrational relationship beliefs, the relationship between these variables and each other, and their differentiation according to demographic characteristics were examined. In this study, the causal relationship between irrational relationship beliefs and relationship satisfaction is explained based on the mediating role of conflict resolution behavior. The study was conducted with a total of 424 participants, 336 women and 88 men. Demographic Information Form, Relationship Satisfaction Scale (RAS), Responses to Dissatisfaction in Close Relationship- Accomodation Instrument (EVLN) and Irrational Romantic Relationship Beliefs Inventory (IRRBI) were used to collect data. According to the findings of the study, it was seen that the sub-dimensions of thinking differently, gender differences and physical intimacy of the RAIQ had a mediating role in the relationship between relationship satisfaction and the sub- dimensions of talking, pretending to be absent and exit of the CBRT. As a result of the study, it was observed that the talking, pretending to be absent and exit sub-dimensions of the IWLS and the divergent thinking, gender differences and physical intimacy sub- dimensions of the RAIQ significantly predicted relationship satisfaction. Among the demographic variables, the contribution of romantic relationship status, relationship duration and gender to relationship satisfaction was found to be significant.
