The relationship between attachment styles in romantic relationships and relationship stability and separation anxiety

In this study, the relationships between attachment styles in romantic relationships and relationship stability and separation anxiety were examined. Relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. In the study, attachment styles are predictor variables, relationship stability and adult separation anxiety are predicted variables. The study group of the research consisted of 103 individuals over the age of 18 who have been in a romantic relationship at least once in their lives or are currently in a romantic relationship.As a data collection tool, 3 scales including attachment styles scale, adult separation anxiety scale and relationship stability scale and 1 demographic form were used. The data were analyzed with SPSS 25 package program. According to the findings, it is seen that there is a significant relationship between avoidant attachment and relationship satisfaction at a moderate level in the negative direction, a low level in the positive direction with the evaluation of the quality of options, and a low level in the negative direction with relationship investment. It is seen that there is a positive and moderately significant relationship between anxious attachment and adult separation anxiety. It is seen that there is a positive low-level significant relationship between adult separation anxiety and relationship satisfaction and relationship investment. It was concluded that separation anxiety assumed a full mediating role in the relationship between anxious attachment and relationship investment.
