Serum maresin-1 and lipoxina-4 level in rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathic pain

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate neuropathic pain in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and to compare serum lipoxinA-4 and serum maresin-1 levels with healthy controls to determine their clinical significance in RA. 60 patients with RA and 30 healthy controls who met the RA diagnostic criteria of the American rheumatology society and were followed up with this diagnosis for at least one year were included in the study and compared. Disease activity score 28 (DAS28) was calculated to assess disease activity. Serum Lipoxin A4 and serum Maresin-1 levels were measured by ELISA method. Neuropathic pain status in RA patients was determined by the PAINDETECT questionnaire. Those with a T search result of 19 and above were considered likely to have a neuropathic pain component, and a score of less than 19 was considered to be a non-probable neuropathic pain component. There was no significant difference between RA patients and healthy controls in terms of age and gender (p=0.071, p=0.922, respectively). The rate of patients with probable neuropathic pain component was 28.3% (n:17). The rate of patients with high disease activity calculated according to DAS28 was 38.3% (n:23). No statistically significant difference was found between serum Maresin-1 levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the control group. (p:0.310) When the serum Lipoxin A4 levels in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis and the control group were compared, they were found to be higher in the control group and a statistically significant difference was found. (p<0.001). According to the groupings made according to the neuropathic pain component status, no difference was found between the groups in terms of serum lipoxin A4, but the serum maresin1 level was found to be higher in the group with possible neuropathic pain component, and a statistical difference was found (p<0.025). There was no difference in serum lipoxin A4 and serum maresin1 levels in the patient groups according to the treatment status of the patients. In this study, we found that serum lipoxinA-4 levels in patients with RA were lower than in the control group, and serum maresin-1 levels were higher in the group with possible neuropathic pain component. Therefore, we think that serum lipoxinA4 may be a parameter that can guide the diagnosis of the disease, and serum maresin1 level may be a parameter that can guide possible neuropathic pain.
