Abstract (EN)

In today's Internet environment, multimedia is widely used and constitutes a large part of data transfer. Adaptive video streaming has become more popular recently in order to make the most efficient use of the resources and increase the user's quality of experience (QoE). By using multiple video streams each of which are encoded at different rate, it is aimed to minimize the waiting time while trying to get the most benefit from the resources. Social media, mobile devices and cloud computing challenge traditional network architecture. The recently developed software defined networks (SDN) technology is based on the separation of the control plane and the routing plane in the network layer. SDN technology has an architecture in the network that separates packet routing so that network control is directly programmable. By taking advantage of SDN technology, routing and communication algorithms can be developed to improve the performance of video streaming applications in SDN fields. Within the scope of the thesis, a video streaming system is designed to work between servers and clients in different SDN areas by making use of message transmission between SDN controllers. It is seen that the designed algorithm improves the user quality of experience and service quality in the end-to-end video streaming system.
