A critical edition and analysis of Saʿdī Čelebī's Ḥās̲h̲iya ʿalā Anwār al-tanzīl wa-asrār al-taʾwīl Sūrat Maryam

Sâdî Çelebi, was born in the Daday district of Kastamonu. There is not any certain information in the sources about his date of birth and family. At the younger ages, he moved to Istanbul with his family. He received his primary education from his father, who was an imam. Ibn Yahya al-Ansari, Yusuf b. Hasan al-Huseyni, Muhammed b. İbrahim es-Samedinî he also took lessons from scholars of the period such. Sâdî Çelebi's love of science and wisdom continued until the end of his life. One of his students, Seydî Ali said that even if his teacher was sick, he did not stay away from the lesson and science, and that he treated his illness by dealing with science. Sâdî Çelebi started his teaching career at Başçı İbrahim Madrasah in Istanbul, then worked at Taşlık Madrasah in Edirne, Vezir Mahmud Paşa Madrasah in Istanbul, Bursa Sultaniye Madrasah and Semaniye Madrasah. Sadi Çelebi, who was brought to Istanbul in 930/1523 according to some rumors and in 928/1522 according to some rumors, remained in this position for 10 years. After the death of Şeyhülislâm Ibn Kemal, he became the tenth sheikh al-Islam of the Ottoman Empire in 940/1534. Sâdî Çelebi's most important work on tafsir is Ḥâşiye ʿalâ Envâri't-tenzîl ve esrâri't-teʾvîl, which he wrote for Beyzâvî's tafsir. The subject of our study is the chapter of Surah Maryam in this work of Sadi Çelebi. Our study consists of five parts. In the introduction section, the subject, importance, purpose, limitations, sources and method of the research are discussed. In the first part, subjects such as the author's life, education, literary direction, foundation services, duties, death and works are discussed. In the second part, the authorship of the work, its subjects, sources, qualities, abbreviations used in the annotation, copies of the annotation, and the first and last pages are discussed. In the third chapter, the research of the Surah Maryam part of the work is carried out. Finally, a brief summary was made in the conclusion section.
