Ṣadr al-Dīn Zādah's gloss on al-Bayḍāwī's tafsīr is regarded as one of the distinguished scholarly contributions to the Islamic intellectual tradition. It presents a unikue perspective on linguistic interpretation, offering a meticulous analysis of the Kur'anic text. This study aims to produce a critical edition of the gloss's manuscript and to conduct an in-depth linguistic analysis, revealing the grammatical and rhetorical strategies employed by the author in his exegetical approach. The research centers on examining the linguistic elements addressed by Ṣadr al-Dīn Zādah in his gloss, with a particular focus on his methodology in clarifying the nuanced meanings of Kur'anic verses. This includes the interpretation of rare vocabulary, elucidation of syntactic structures, and exploration of rhetorical devices. Furthermore, the study investigates the sources that influenced the author, along with his engagement with earlier linguistic and exegetical traditions. For the critical edition, the researcher utilized the available manuscript copies, comparing and analyzing two versions to establish the most accurate and authentic text. The edited version is accompanied by linguistic, grammatical, and rhetorical annotations to aid reader comprehension. Additionally, the study discusses the importance of this gloss in advancing linguistic and exegetical scholarship, and its place within the broader tradition of rhetorical Kur'anic interpretation. This dissertation demonstrates how Ṣadr al-Dīn Zādah skillfully integrated linguistic sciences with exegetical principles, making his gloss a valuable resource for scholars of Kur'anic exegesis and Arabic linguistics alike. The research highlights the significance of this work as a foundational contribution to the understanding of the linguistic-exegetical heritage of Islam, and as a call to revive and reassess its texts and intellectual legacy.
