Abstract (EN)
The universe of this study which aims to determine the level of secular attitudes of healthcare professionals (physicians and nurses), has been determined as Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital. It has been applied a secular attitude scale developed during the research process to 348 health workers (166 physicians and 182 nurses) who were selected through simple random sampling. For this scale, it has been primarily applied a pilot scheme with a draft scale form consisting of 27 items to the sample group of 140 persons who consisted physicians and nurses. As a result of factor analysis, seven items were eliminated and a final scale of 20 items was obtained. In this study, which is a quantitative research model, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between the levels of secular attitudes of physicians and nurses, the academic title of the physicians, the field of specialization of the physicians, gender and the place where the participants were born and raised and the levels of secular attitudes. On the other hand, it was determined that there was no significant relationship between the time spent in the profession and level of education of nurses and the level of secular attitudes. Thus, it was concluded that physicians had a more secular perspective than nurses, that the academic title of the physicians had an impact on secular attitudes, men had more secular tendencies than women, and that the social environment in which the individual lived was one of the factors affecting secular attitudes.
