Abstract (EN)
Şentürk, B. (2025). Evaluation of the Effect of Digital Healthy Nutrition Literacy of Healthcare Workers on Nutrition Knowledge Level and Body Weight. Master's Thesis, Istanbul Atlas University Graduate Education Institute, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Istanbul. This thesis study was conducted with 100 healthcare professionals working at Istanbul Atlas University Medicine Hospital, and was carried out to determine the digital healthy nutrition literacy level of healthcare professionals from different professional groups and to evaluate its effect on nutritional knowledge level and body weight. Data were collected by the Personal Survey Form prepared by the Researcher, eHealthy Nutrition Literacy Scale (e-SBO) and Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale for Adults (YETBİD) using a face-to-face survey method. As a result of this study, it was determined that female healthcare workers participated in our study more and 73% of the participants were between the ages of 19-30. It was found that 73.7% of the female healthcare workers participating in our study were normal weight; 58.3% of the male healthcare workers were overweight. 44% of the healthcare workers participating in our study access information about nutrition via social media and 70.0% of these healthcare workers think that posts about nutrition on social media increase their knowledge level. It was found that the basic nutrition and food-health knowledge scores of doctors were better compared to other groups. It was concluded that the body mass index (BMI) classification variable was a variable that did not affect the basic nutrition and food-health relationship and food preference sub-dimensions perceptions of healthcare workers. However, it was determined that marital status, age, BMI and different occupational groups in healthcare workers were a variable that did not affect the sub-dimensions perceptions of the e-SBO Scale. As a result, in our study; Nutrition and Food-Health Knowledge (β=-0.063, p>0.05) and body weight (β=-0.007, p>0.05) were not significant predictors of the e-Healthy Nutrition Literacy Scale; Food Preference (β=0.301, p<0.05) was found to be a positive and significant predictor of the e-Healthy Nutrition Literacy Scale. In order to prevent incomplete, incorrect and misleading health and nutrition information shared on the internet, uncontrolled sharing should be prevented and dietitians should inform the public about where they can access accurate and reliable information about nutrition, and access to accurate information should be ensured, and e-SBO levels should be increased.
