Determining the factors affecting the ecological footprint awareness of healthcare professionals

This study is cross-sectional and was conducted to determine the ecological footprint awareness levels of healthcare professionals and the factors affecting it, and was conducted with 312 participants working at Yozgat Bozok University Health Application and Research Center. The data of the study were collected with the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants and the Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale (EAİFÖ) and analyzed with the SPSS (Statictical Package for Social Sciences) 18.0 package program. In the analysis methods, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was performed and as a result of the test, it was concluded that EAIFÖ and its sub-dimensions did not comply with the normality distribution. In the statistical analysis of the data, the Man-Whitney U test was used to compare binary groups, the Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to compare three or more groups. Spearman Correlation analysis was used to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable, and Binary analysis was used to identify the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. Logistic Regression analysis was applied. As a result of the statistical findings obtained from EAIFÖ and its sub-dimensions; It was determined that the sub-dimension in which the awareness level of healthcare professionals was highest was laws, while the sub-dimension was lowest in transportation. Factors affecting the ecological footprint awareness of healthcare professionals; Having received environmental education, advising others on environmental issues, intervening against environmental irregularities, being interested in environmental protection, engaging in environmental activities, having lived in an urban area for the longest time, being aware of environmental laws, engaging in environmental activities, being a female and being a nurse.
