Communication in health services and the case of doctors in Deni̇zli̇ State Hospital

This research is about communication in health services. The communication constitutes the essence of social life. The communication is the one that makes social life possible. A social life is impossible without communication. Health services is the area among all social life areas that the communication is needed most. The literature survey has been used in the first two theoretical parts of the research. In the first part, the structure and the characteristics of the communication have been studied. In this part, the definition and the scope of the communication, the components of the communication, the types of the communication, the working of the communication process, the bottlenecks of the communication and the ways of overcoming these obstacles. In the second part of the research, the use of communication in health services has been studied. In this part, the subjects of the health services and the communication, doctor-patient relations and the communication, the patient groups and the communication have been analyzed. In the last part "the personel communication ability inventory" survey has been conducted to the doctors of the Denizli State Hospital; where the universe is 200 people, sample has not been used, the 200 doctors that consist of the universe has been included in the survey. The survey has been analyzed by using the Statistical Package Programe SPSS 20.0. The findings obtained has been analyzed. According to these findings; it has been understood that the doctors of the Denizli State Hospital have high communication abilities in general. Besides, some findings that shows a need for support have been specified and evaluated.
