A research on the relationship between total quality management in health services and demographic characteristics of healthcare professionals

In this study, quality and total quality concepts are examined in the first chapter. Quality and total quality concepts have been defined and their feautures have been explained. In the second part, the relationship between health sector and quality is investigated. The activities carried out in the health sector in our country and in the world, the structuring in the health sector, the health sector's perspective on quality, the concepts of customer and patient in the health sector, the expectations of customers and patients were investigated. In the third part, the perspectives of health sector employees on total quality management and whether demographic characteristics have an effect on total quality management were investigated. This research study is a reflection of the increasing need for quality in our country and in the world. Quality is a tool that will always be used for everyone and because the health sector is related to human life, the importance of quality is just as important as the production companies. For this purpose, this study will contribute to the individuals and researchers who want to establish the total quality management system in their institutions and apply the principles in their hospitals by compiling the researches conducted in our country and in the world. In the research study, questionnaires were distributed to health workers in all departments of three private hospitals operating in Istanbul and the results were analyzed in SPPS program. As a result; hospital administrations should actively participate in quality studies and lead and encourage their employees. Managers should reward employees and establish the appropriate infrastructure. In this way, the satisfaction of health service providers will be reflected to the service recipients.
