Health administrations' occupational health and safety awareness and risk perception

This research is a cross-sectional study conducted between 2022 and 2023 among the employees of the Yozgat Provincial Health Directorate. Data were collected through an online survey. The study was completed with 215 participants. The data obtained from the survey and scales were transferred to a computer and analyzed using the SPSS. The study aimed to investigate the levels of occupational health and safety (OHS) awareness and risk perception among personnel (administrative staff, midwives, nurses, data entry clerks, civil servants, and workers) working at the Yozgat Provincial Health Directorate and to evaluate the relationships between these variables. It was found that 61.4% of the participants were male, 78.6% were married, 73.5% had children, and the majority (36.3%) were in the 36–45 age group. No significant relationship was identified between the participants' marital status, gender, parenthood status, age group, or position in the workplace and their levels of awareness or risk perceptions. However, a positive relationship was identified between participants' education levels and their knowledge of the fundamental philosophy of OHS, acceptance of OHS as an important scientific discipline, and the belief that participation in OHS training and its lifelong repetition are necessary. Significant positive relationships were also identified between participants' OHS awareness and their risk and hazard awareness. The study also revealed that inadequate knowledge and attitudes regarding OHS among health administration employees negatively impact their health. Since the research was conducted among health administration personnel, who encompass a wide range of employment types and demographic diversity, it is considered to have strong representativeness. Therefore, the findings of this study are deemed valuable for developing solutions to the issues identified.
