The violence against healthcare workers under occupational health and safety regulations (Dr. Behçet Uz Children's Disease and Surgery Training and Research Hospital example)

During the delivery of healthcare services, healthcare workers will produce and deliver high quality and superior service positively if healthcare workers feel safe and peaceful in the workplace. Violence has become a social problem in all levels of society. In healthcare facilities, the concept of employee safety is as important as the concept of patient safety. Therefore, employee safety, occupational health and violence prevention issues must be dealt with diligently in healthcare organizatons. Health organizations, which aim to work more efficiently and with high performance, should pay attention to create a work environment under occupational health and safety measures. On the other hand, health institutions should pay attention on Health and Safety Policy and incorporate all employees under Health and Safety Policy. Also, health institutions are required to create a business environment by taking risks, violence and security measures in order to avoid their staff. This thesis has been co-ordinated by employees who work under complex and multidisciplinary structure in various professional groups. Dr. Behçet Uz Children's Disease and Surgery Training and Research Hospital, health personnel and has been prepared in order to determine the causes of violence and percentages, and types of violence. Also, this thesis is intended to shed light on studies that purpose to prevent violence. The result of this research shows us the significant relationship is seen between factors of working conditions, safety, stress, complicated operational processes, communication and information and factors of psychological and physical violence.
