Career expectations of associate degree/undergraduate studentsin health management education

Abstract (EN)

The health sector has been one of the rapidly developing sectors in recent years. One of the most important factors in this increase is the introduction of the private health institutions. The private sector's entry into the health sector and the further growth of the sector increased the need for health personnel and thus health created a large employment area. Especially in the health sector in Turkey it has revealed the need for some professional groups in healthcare along with these developments. Health management has also been one of these occupational groups. The need for health management has gained more importance with the growth of the sector and has led young people who choose their profession to be directed to this field. As a result of this orientation, the departments of health management and management of health institutions were opened in order to train the personnel who will take the floor in the management of the health institution and work in the administrative units. The main purpose of this study is to measure the career expectation of students who have associate degree in Health Care Management and undergraduate degree in Health Management. Firstly, the literature was searched and then the students were asked a total of 19 survey questions consisting of 8 questions in the first section and 11 questions in the second section. At the end of the research, according to the t-test results, which were conducted to determine the difference between the students' career expectations and demographic characteristics; It was found that there is a statistically significant difference according to the variables of gender, internship and willingness to choose the department they read. It was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the variables of grade level, internship at secondary education level in health field and being in the field of health in the family and career expectations of students. There was a significant difference between undergraduate and associate degree students in terms of career expectations. And it was determined that the education they received had a positive effect on the students' career expectations.
