Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to investigate the immediate effect of high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) chiropractic manipulation on autonomic nervous system and baropodometric parameters. The effects of different manipulation methods on pedobarographic analysis and the autonomic nervous system were investigated. Participants were randomly divided into 3 groups with equal numbers of men and women in the groups. Chiropractic manipulation to the C3-C5 level was applied to the cervical manipulation group, and chiropractic manipulation to the related sacroiliac joint was applied to the sacroiliac manipulation group. In the control group, results were measured at 30-minute intervals without any intervention. Participants in each group were evaluated before and after treatment. In the study, the base pressure measurement of the individuals was measured with a pedobarographic analyzer, the OSS was measured with the polar h10 device, and the heart rate and blood pressure measurements were measured with a manual sphygmomanometer and pulse oximeter/spo2 device. Significance in the study was evaluated as p<0.05. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of age, gender, height and body mass index of the participants (p>0.05). In the data within the group, there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse values in the group that was manipulated to the cervical region. In our study, there was a change in baropodometric data in all groups in the in-group comparison and when we compared the groups, but there was no statistically significant difference. In the evaluation of the autonomic nervous system, there was no significant difference in the manipulated groups in the data reflecting the vagal tone and sympathetic/parasympathetic activity. However , statistically significant differences occurred in blood pressure and heart rate measurements that can reflect autonomic and cardiovascular functions , which support the literature in our study . In the comparison between the groups in blood pressure and pulse measurement results, the decrease in the systolic blood pressure parameter was superior in the cervical group, while the increase in the heart rate values in the sacroiliac group was superior. It was observed that chiropractic manipulation had an effect on blood pressure and pulse parameters. Keywords: Chiropractic, Cervical, Sacroiliac, Pedobarographic Analysis, Autonomic Nervous System
