Özet (EN)

Comparison of KIR Genes Frequency in Healthy Individuals and Patients with Meningiomas Purpose: Patients diagnosed as meningioma are involved in this study. By Examining the distribution of KIR polymorphism, we aimed to predict clinical outcome in meningioma patients, reveal the genetic mechanisms and possible treatments. Materials and Methods: The patients admitted to the Department of neurosurgery between april 2013-september 2013 are included. 31 meningioma patients over the age of 18 and 50 patients in the control group were conducted on a total of 81 patients. Patients diagnosed as meningioma were 6 males (19.35%), 25 were female (80.65%). In the control group of 23 males (46%), 27 were female (54%). All study group mean age was 54.49 After receiving consent from the patients, sample DNA was isolated from complete blood samples. KIR typing was based on the principle of SSOP(sequence specific for oligonucleotides probes). Results: Inhibitor, activator and pseudogene included a total of 16 KIR gene were studied. In the meningioma patient group 2DL3 and 3DS1 genes were found to be significantly associated with protective effect of KIR gene. Meningiomas classified in their own, grade 1 meningiomas as the first group and atypical and anaplastic meningiomas as the second group the difference in the distribution of KIR gene was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Framework KIR genes 2DL4, 3DL2, 3DL3, and 3DP1 was present in all patients and control groups. Inhibitory KIR genes 2DL3 gene in the patient group were less(P = 0.0), 3DS1 the activator KIR gene was although lesser in the patient group (p=0.004). This shows us that 2DL3 and 3DS1 genes and the development of meningioma was found to be significantly associated with protection. (P <0.05). 3DS1 and 2DL3 genes are the possible protective genes for meningioma. Keywords: KIR gene, NK cells, Meningioma, SSOP
