Comparison of humor styles of the spouses of healthy and risky pregnant women

This study was conducted as a cross-sectional study in order to compare the humor styles of the spouses of healthy and risky pregnant women. The study was conducted in Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital Gynecology clinics by meeting individuals face to face between April-July 2017 by means of questionnaire form and Humor Styles Scale. The sample of the study was 354 males who were taken from the spouses of 177 healthy and 177 problematic pregnancies. It is aimed to investigate the effect of women's healthy and problematic pregnancies on their partners' sense of humor. In the questionnaire prepared by the researcher, there are 14 questions, seven of which regarding the demographic and fertility history of pregnant women and 7 questions about their spouses. SPSS 17 software was used to analyze the research data. The majority of the participants consisted of 30-35 year-old men with education level bachelor and above, self-employed and the ones who define themselves as easy going. The participants scored 38.57 ± 8.16 on the participant (social) humor scale, 33.73 ± 7.77 on the self-improving humor scale, 26.02 ± 7.85 on the aggressive humor scale, and 25.51 ± 7.79 on the self-destructive humor scale. In the study, a significant difference was found in the "Participant (Social) humor, self-improving humor, aggressive humor" subscales of the humor style scale. No significant difference was observed in the "self-destructive humor" sub-dimension of the humor style scale. As the income level increased in the healthy group, the difference in participant (social) humor points increased. As the education level of the men participating in the study increased, it was determined that the difference of score in the self-improving humor style increased.
