Shah Tahmasb's religious policy (1524-1576)

After the death of the Safavid ruler Shah Ismail, the conflicts initiated by the Kizilbash tribes who were in control of the state together with the ascension of Shah Tahmasb had a great influence on Tahmasb. That is why, in order to dishearten them, Tahmasb provoked Kizilbash tribes against each other. After controlling the political power of the Kizilbash tribes, he began to pursue new politics with his repentance. Accelerating his father's initiative on the procees of Iran's Shi'ism, he began to take necessary steps for that purpose.The activities of Iran's Shi'ism were carried out through the Arab ulema. Tahmasb shows his insistence on spreading Shi'ism by taking a different position in Shiism with his repentance. In this direction, all Shia and Sunni streams, which were contrary to the Imamiyya, was abolished and the Imamiyya was tried to be placed in the whole of Iran.
