Determination of the narratives related to the wars of the prophet Muhammed in Sahih Muslim and their comparison with the sources of the siyer

The studies involving wars of the Prophet Muhammad, constitute the maghāzī literature. It is known that the existing narrations in the books of Hadith contain information about the wars of the Prophet Muhammad. This study was conducted in order to determine the narrations related to the wars of the Prophet Muhammad in Hadith books and to evaluate them in terms of sīrah. While the information about the wars of the Prophet Muhammad in the hadith books was determined, the book of Muslim b. Hajjāc (d. 261/875) which is in Kutub al-Sitte, was evaluated in al-Cāmi' al-Sahīh (Sahīh-i Muslim). The Sahīh-i Muslim and Sahīh-i Bukhārī are considered to be the most reliable sources after the Qur'an. The words and behaviors of the Prophet Muhammad are conveyed in Sahīh-i Muslim. In this study, the information entered into the concept of maghāzī in the Sahīh-i Muslim was tried to be determined. Therefore, our subject is the wars which the Prophet Muhammad personally participated in. Kitāb al-Jihād wa al-Sīrah section in Sahīh-i Muslim is generally the section where this information is concentrated. However, the entire book contains information about the wars of the Prophet Muhammad. In the study, Sahīh-i Muslim was read in detail and all narrations were examined. These narrations related to the maghāzī have been identified. These findings was gathered together and chronologically arranged. These narratives was brought together in chronological order. The information obtained was compared with some sīrah books. This information was compared with the books of Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī (d. 124/742), Musa b. Ukbe (d. 141/758), Wāaqıdī (d. 207/823) and Ibn Hishām (d. 218/833). The information obtained in comparison is presented in tables. As a result of the study, it was determined that there were many narrations related to maghāzī in Sahīh-i Muslim. It was determined that in some of the information obtained was a partnership with the sources that were compared and that in some of them were different. It is seen that some of the narrations are only in Sahîh-i Müslim and not in other sources.
