Şahika Tekand and Studio Players (1989 - 2009)

The idea of contemporary theatre, audience, format, function, the theatre was once again study the relationship with this art has been recognized from the beginning and tends to define new. This idea has been realized at different times in the world and spread in Turkey. Artaud, Grotowski, revealed their new art directors such as Meyerhold theatre with its new format in the world and self. Turkey adopts the concept of contemporary theatre and is an important work in this field also is one of the artists Şahika Tekand.She graduated fromthe 9 Eylul University Fine Arts Faculty Department of Theatre/Acting. In 1984 she started her theatre and cinema acting career and taught acting at the University. In 1988 she established an acting studio namedStudio. In 1990 she founded her own theatre assemble, Studio Oyunculari (TheStudioPlayers). She directed several plays and performances including the seven plays shewrote. She developed her own staging and acting method which is called "Performative Staging and Acting". She has been teaching this method in her on going workshops. Withall of the plays written, directed and staged by the Studio Players she was invited to and participated in several national and international festivals. As a director and as an actress, she was awarded by several institutions.
