Abstract (EN)
Sait Faik Abasıyanık, who came to the forefront with his original style in modern Turkish storytelling and guided the literary generations that came after him with the innovations he created in the story, includes the destructive and constructive effects of pessimism in his stories through human relations and objects, in the Turkish Literature of the Republic Period. Since pessimism is a concept that has philosophical depth, it has been meticulously analyzed in this study. By focusing on Arthur Schopenhauer, who wrote important works on pessimism, and by making intellectual readings, the concept of pessimism has tried to be enlightened. Nostalgia, hope, despair, mourning, strangeness, marginalization, anxiety, compassion and love, which constitute the opposite or similar links of pessimism in the stories, are considered. Sait Faik Abasıyanık's stories which make feel pessimistic are studied. It has intended to bring innovation to literary research by reading the stories of Sait Faik Abasıyanık with the focus of pessimism. KEY WORDS: Pessimism, nostalgia, hope, story, Sait Faik Abasıyanık
