Examination of Sait Faik Abasıyanık's works in terms of values education

While the importance given to cognitive education in today's education system is increasing day by day, the moral development of individuals is taken into the background. This situation affects all areas of social life negatively. Value is the set of truths that societies take from yesterday and transfer to tomorrow. In all societies, values regulate social life and interpersonal relations. The process of gaining values to individuals is called values education. Literature is the art of transferring oral and written cultural elements to individuals through language. At this point, literary works are used to gain values to individuals. 12 stories, 2 novels and 1 interview book of Sait Faik Abasıyanık, one of the important names of modern storytelling, constituted the universe of our study. In the study, document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the analysis of the data, and descriptive analysis was used. Sait Faik's novels, stories and interviews were examined based on the values in the 2018 Social Sciences Curriculum and 10 root values. The findings of the study were tabulated by giving the definition of value, title of the work, value and book page numbers. According to the results of the study, the values of self-control (248) and peace (6) were found the most in the works of Sait Faik Abasıyanık. It has been concluded that Sait Faik Abasıyanık's works can be used in values education.
