Abstract (EN)
Sakarya is demolished by Marmara Earthquake of August 1999 and thousands of people died. Other alive people damaged both psychologically and financially. There were two destructive earthquakes which caused huge damage in 1943 and 1967 in history of Sakarya. In view of the fact that the government realizes that it is compulsory to guard perpetually in Sakarya where first degree earthquake zone is. Therefore, the government research more secured-areas related to ground far from the city center for thousands of people who lost their home because of the earthquake. Then, they constructed secured houses in these places. Thus, new settlement areas are constructed in these areas. In this thesis, the new settlement areas which are constructed in Sakarya after earthquake of August 1999 are investigated. Firstly general characteristics of population and allocation in Sakarya are expressed to understand construction of the new enclaves. The section of this thesis gives information about seismic properties of Sakarya. In the third section the new settlement areas constructed in Sakarya after earthquake are expressed. The geological and geomorphologic reasons and individual and institutional factors related to construction of new settlement areas are treated in the first part of third section. Then, the new secured-houses constructed by institutions in Karaman, Camili, Korucuk and Ferizli together with the new allocations formed by individuals reasons in Serdivan and Beşköprü are expressed. The questionnaires, interviews and observations in places are used to investigate the new allocations. Keywords: Sakarya, Earthquake, Secured-houses
