Sakarya province and around apple producers the perceptions on the use of pesticide and the hermful effects of pesticide

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the plant protection problems and consciousness levels and perceptions of apple growers in Sakarya province. The survey has been made among 96 farmers who has been chosen randomly from the districts of Erenler, Hendek, Serdivan, Söğütlü, Sapanca, Pamukova, Adapazarı and Geyve. According to the survey results in apple gardens the most indentified illnesses were as follows: Black stain 93.8%, Venturia İnaqualis 77.3%, Aphididae 64.9%, Red Spider 58.8% and others 26.8%. Since the answers of the participants for questionnaire were analyzed as multiple answers, the total value exceeds 100%. As a result of the survey, 33% of the participants stated that drug dealers' recommendations were taken into consideration when deciding on the drugs to be used for the product and 20.6% of them stated that they act according to their own knowledge and experience. However, 55.7% of the apple producers stated that they had prescribed the drug to the dealers and 29.9% had it written to the authorized persons and institutions. 78.4% of the participants declared that they read the labels and 20.6% of them did not. However, 94.6% declared that it was written on the prescription of medication during the period between the last application and the harvest period, in addition to the recommendations and doses. While 88.7% of the producers defined that they took precautions for the residues left by the medicines they use in their gardens, 11.3% of them reported that they did not take any precautions. 50.5% of the apple producers stated that they pay attention to the recommended dosage and harvest time to reduce the remnants of the pesticides, and 40.1% of them stated that they act according to the dealers' recommendation.
