Abstract (EN)
In the thesis study, the Byzantine period architectural plastic works in Akyazı-Geyve-Pamukova districts of Sakarya were discussed. In this context, in the first chapter; information about the geographical location and history of Sakarya is given. In addition, sub-titles have been opened about the history of Geyve, Akyazı and Pamukova districts covering the borders of our thesis. In the second part; by grouping the Byzantine architectural plastic where these elements are used, their forms and ornaments are mentioned. In the third part; artifacts identified as a results of the survey conducted in the Geyve, Akyazı and Pamukova districts of Sakarya and which were moved to the Sakarya Museum as a results of the previous studies in the region; artifacts with an architectural function, dependent on architecture and whose function cannot be determined are defined in the catalogue. Each title is grouped within itself according to its types and types. The works in these groups were described in detail and similar examples were given in terms of materials, techniques, decorations and styles. In addition, the works with plastic value were drawn in the CorelDraw program. In the fourth chapter; there is a detailed analysis of the works discussed in the catalog in comparison with similar works. In the conclusion part, the results obtained as a result of the analysis of the thesis data are discussed. Primary sources used in the thesis; as a result of the survey, most of them are not in situ and are exhibited in museums. Secondary sources are; it creates books, articles, thesis studies, excavation and surface research reports related to the subject. Thanks to these artifacts, it was tried to have and idea about the architectural activities of the Sakarya region in the Byzantine period. This study is of great importance in terms of documenting many artifacts that can only be preserved by moving to the Sakarya Museum, un fortunately many of them are idle and will be destroyed by both nature and human destruction.
