Abstract (EN)
Our study is about Sakarya province, which is an agricultural area with its vast and productive fields and climate which is available to agriculture. This study shows the agriculture potential of Sakarya, its problems and solution suggestions. Sakarya has got a quite high agriculture potential. it is understood that; it is the agriculture that provides income and employment to the nearly half of Sakarya?s whole population. Sakarya province is available to agriculture with its soil and climate properties and suitable for marketing of products with its geographic position and transportation opportunities. The agricultural areas cover roughly a 245,356 hectare area in Sakarya, which is the 51 % of the whole province. Field plants are grown on the 116,182 hectares of this area and the rest of the distribution is as follows ; 10,898 hectares for vegetables, 5,675 for fruits, 68,660 hectares for nuts, 3, 617 hectares for vineyards, 8,750 for poplars and 195 hectares for olives. In the south districts of the region fruits and vegetables are grown. In the central parts of the region; field plants, mainly corn, and vegetables are grown and in the northern regions of the province nuts are grown. Moreover breeding animals is a very common throughout the whole province. So to serve Sakarya?s agriculture; Correction on breeding animals, improving the up keeping and breeding conditions, increasing the amount of fodder plants, correction of pastures and improving beekeeping, vegetable growing, hothouse plants growing, and decoration plants is necessary.
