Abstract (EN)
Zero Waste Project was launched in our country in 2017 in order to minimize waste, minimize waste generation, use resources more efficiently and leave a cleaner and livable environment to future generations within the framework of sustainable development basis under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. As required the legal regulations for environmental protection, industrial facilities have to discharge certain wastewater that they collect from the water and sewage line in the municipalities, while discharging the wastewater they collect from the water and sewage lines to the outside environment. In this study, starting from the philosophy of zero waste, the potential of some of the electricity consumed by the wastewater treatment plants in Sakarya for the treatment process was investigated by means of micro hydroelectric power plants, which is a renewable energy type that can be installed at the outlets of these treatment plants. Waste water treatment plants registered in the wastewater information system in Sakarya have been identified. The flow rates of these treatment plants are presented in a table. Later, the wastewater treatment plants with very low flow rates or whose discharge is not continuous are eliminated. Monthly electricity consumption of the wastewater treatment plants with high flow rates and electricity consumption between 2015-2019 is given in tables and graphs. The provincial / district wastewater treatment plants, which have high electricity consumption, are not working with full availability, and the consumption of electricity consumption is shifted to day and night hours and the amount of electricity consumption to be saved is calculated. Then, the potential of establishing micro-hes at the outlets of the Sakarya provincial / district wastewater treatment plants, with high flow rates and electricity consumption, was analyzed, and the reimbursement period method, which is a microhes investment-ability calculation method, was analyzed with the present value method and internal profitability method. In this study, it was deduced that, when the city waste water treatment plants are not operating at full capacity, if the treatment is operated in a way to reduce the electricity consumption at night, microhes investment can be made in the Karaman waste water treatment plant, whose flow rate and level difference is appropriate
