The impact of cittaslow resident hospitality approaches on the domestic tourist intention of revisiting the city: The example of Seferihisar

The Cittaslow movement, which emerged as anti-globalization, has important contributions to cities' environmental policies, the development of sustainable tourism, and ultimately to the sustainable competitiveness of cities. However, the contributions of the city administration may not be sufficient. At this point, the hospitality insights of city residents may have important effects on the satisfaction of the local tourists coming to the city and the intention to revisiting. When the literature is reviewed, there are some studies that suggest that Cittaslow can be an alternative way to make cities sustainable. But the hospitality approaches of the residents of the city was not investigated. In addition, the effect of satisfaction on the revisiting intention and loyalty was not investigated by incorporation into the model. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of hospitality approaches of residents in Seferihisar, Cittaslow city, on the satisfaction of domestic tourists. Within the framework of the research model, the effect of satisfaction in the revisiting intention and loyalty of domestic tourists the city was also investigated. Research data, which is Turkey's first Cittaslow town, from domestic tourists in Seferihisar were collected by face to face questionnaire method. The data were analyzed with explanatory factor analysis in order to determine the factors included in the research model. Then, the reliability and validity of the obtained factors were tested by descriptive statistics and confirmatory factor analysis. The research model was analyzed by structural equation modeling. As a result of the study, it was found that the enthusiasm and friendliness of the hospitality approach of the city residents to be effective on the satisfaction of the domestic tourists coming to Seferihisar and this satisfaction had a positive effect on the intention to revisit and loyalty. At this point, city managers have important duties especially in the development of hospitality approaches of city residents.
