The life of Salih Urhan and musical examination of works he contributed to TRT

In this study, Salih Urhan's life, art, personality and his contributions to Turkish Folk Music were examined. The artist had worked in TRT for many years and contributed to recognition of especially game air, folk dance and unmetered folk song belonging to region of Teke. In addition, he provided to take apart of pumpkin violin to TRT radios. TRT radios have provided the place of the Pumpkin Violin. Salih Urhan is the first person to be a Pumpkin Violin artist. After leaving his job at TRT, he taught at the State Turkish Music Conservatory of Ege University and wrote the first Pumpkin Violin method. As a result of the examinations, 55 artifacts of Salih Urhan's TRT Turkish Folk Music repertoire have been identified. These works consist of 6 pieces of welding personality and 17 pieces of broken air, 2 pieces of welding personality and 8 pieces of compilation of the game air, 1 source of personality and 6 pieces of compiled unmetered folk song, 10 pieces of broken air and 5 notes taken by the game air. The results of this study are given by analyzing the makams, foot, procedure, course, range and sound range. Key Words: Salih Urhan, Turkish Folk Music, Teke Region, Pumpkin Violin
